My name is Worth Farrington. I grew up on the water near Morehead City, North Carolina, and I have been offshore fishing since I was four years old. These days, my home base is Wilmington, North Carolina, but I spend most of my time traveling as a freelance captain, mate, and sonar operator.
Over the past 17 years, I have worked on sportfishing boats in Costa Rica, Cabo, Bermuda, Mexico, the Bahamas, and all along the East Coast. Since 2019, I have been running OMNI sonars in real fishing situations and competitive tournament environments. Most of what I have learned has come from time on the water, using these machines day after day, figuring out what they can do, where they help, and where they can be confusing.
With a background in engineering and a strong interest in the technical side of sportfishing, I built OMNI Sonar School to help make these systems easier to understand. There is not a lot of public information out there on how to actually use OMNI sonars in real offshore fishing situations. My goal with this platform is to help captains, mates, owners, and crews get up to speed faster and feel more confident using their sonar.
OMNI Sonar School now offers online courses for both the Furuno CSH8 and Furuno CSH10 OMNI sonar systems.
These courses are geared specifically toward sportfishing. They are not just about learning what each button does or how to change a setting. They are about learning how to use the sonar as a captain, or sonar operator who is actively trying to find fish, follow fish, make better decisions, and help the boat catch more.
The goal is to bridge the gap between technology and fishing. OMNI sonars are powerful tools, but it only becomes truly useful when you understand how to apply it in real fishing situations. These courses are built to help you understand what you are looking at on the screen, how to make better adjustments, and how to merge the technical side of sonar with the instincts and decisions that go into offshore sportfishing.
The CSH8 and CSH10 have a lot of similar OMNI sonar concepts, but they are still different machines. The controls, settings, features, sonar picture, and overall feel are different enough that each course is built specifically for that unit.
OMNI Sonar School is built to keep growing as sonar technology keeps improving. OMNI sonars are becoming more common on offshore fishing boats, and knowing how to use them properly is becoming a real advantage.
For people who learn better hands-on, I also offer in-person training and on-the-water sonar operation. Whether you are fishing a tournament, practicing with your crew, or just trying to get more comfortable with your system, I can work with you directly to help dial in the sonar and improve how you mark, track, and catch fish.
This is not just about learning sonar from a technical standpoint. It is about learning how to use that technology in a way that fits into real sportfishing — while trolling, turning on marks, and making decisions in the moment.
Whether you are looking for online lessons, real-world coaching, or continued support after buying a course, OMNI Sonar School is built to help serious sonar users keep learning.

The OMNI Sonar School courses are designed to give you practical information you can actually use offshore. They are built for captains, mates, owners, and serious anglers who want to better understand their sonar, mark more fish, and get more out of their equipment.
Inside the courses, you will find:
✅ Step-by-step breakdowns of important OMNI sonar settings
✅ How to use tilt, range, gain, and marks to find and follow fish
✅ Real fishing examples and video walkthroughs
✅ Explanations of sonar functions, tools, and operating modes
✅ Sportfishing-focused techniques for applying sonar while trolling and actively fishing
✅ Best practices for different species, depths, and fishing situations
✅ Physical component explanations and maintenance considerations
✅ Practical tips for building confidence with your sonar on the water
The CSH8 course is built around a sonar that has been out for a long time and is much more figured out in the sportfishing world. Over the years, I have been able to spend a lot of time with this machine in different fisheries and different conditions, and that has helped me narrow down what works, what does not, and what settings are worth focusing on.
This course is a more dialed-in and proven approach to running the CSH8. I provide sets of settings that have worked well for different fishing environments, along with practical explanations of how to use the machine as a real sportfishing tool. The goal is to help you get comfortable faster, avoid wasting time chasing settings that do not matter, and start using the sonar in a way that helps you mark and catch more fish.
The CSH10 course is built around a much newer sonar, so this course has a little different feel than the CSH8 course. The CSH10 is still being figured out in real sportfishing applications, and there is a lot of new information that continues to develop as more boats use it and push the machine harder.
Because of that, the CSH10 course is designed to evolve with the sonar. As new settings, software updates, techniques, and real fishing examples become available, the course will continue to grow. The goal is to help CSH10 users build a strong foundation now, while also staying up to date as the machine is better understood and pushed closer to its true potential.
The OMNI Sonar School community is a private space for members who purchase the CSH8 course, the CSH10 course, or both.
The community is no longer offered as a separate monthly paid subscription. Instead, it is included for course members so they have a place to ask questions, share examples, and keep learning after they get access to the course.
Inside the private community, members can:
💬 Post questions and get feedback
📹 Share sonar videos for help with marking, tracking, and interpretation
📁 Access shared examples, settings, and learning resources
📚 Discuss region-specific OMNI sonar tactics
👥 Connect with other captains, mates, and sonar operators
The idea is simple: the course gives you the foundation, and the community gives you a place to keep learning as you spend more time using the sonar in real fishing situations.
